There are six roles in gotLearning:
- Student
- Teacher
- Educational Specialist (special educators, instructional coaches, counselors etc.)
- School Administrators
- System Administrators
- Family View (for parents and guardians)
Just as in a physical school, each of the above has different permissions.
Below are the permissions for users in regard to Learning Conversations. Permissions in regard to Teacher Notes and Professional Conversations can be found in their explanations in this Help Center.

Students can only create, edit and view their classes and their own conversations. Students may also be able to view other students conversations from their classes if they have been invited to that conversation by the student or their teacher.
Teachers can create, edit, view, participate in and delete any learning conversation in their classes. Teachers can also view and participate in conversations of their students in their student’s other classes.
Educational Specialists can create, view, participate in and delete any learning conversation in their classes or classes that they are part of. Educational Specialists can also be assigned teachers in which they can create, edit, view and delete any learning conversations in those teachers classes. Educational specialists can also follow students and view and participate in any learning conversations of those students.
School Administrators can create, view, participate in and delete any learning conversation in their school.
System Administrators can create, view, participate in and delete any learning conversation in their school.
Family View allows parents and guardians to view conversations and assignments that teachers and students have shared with them.
